Types of remote viewing

The popular names are methods, not religions. HRVG, Controlled Remote Viewing, Extended Remote Viewing, and Associative Remote Viewing all start the same way: the viewer does not get the answer in advance.

GOAT RV is not a new school name. It is a practice desk. Letter IDs. A lock. Then the still.

What every serious method shares

• A defined target, kept sealed.
• A handle that does not explain the target.
• A record made while the viewer is blind.
• Feedback after the record is closed.

If you can search the ID and find the still, you are not remote viewing. You are studying.

Hawaii Remote Viewers' Guild (HRVG)

HRVG is a skill-based training method out of the Hawaii Remote Viewers' Guild. The Guild studies several schools and trains its own structured way of working a sealed target. Glenn B. Wheaton is the Guild's president. They are a nonprofit training group, not a competing storefront.

The protocol is a structured system for recording and analysis of data, with “blackboard” used as the primary method for information gathering: you look to a dark field, take what arrives, and keep analysis off the first marks. That blackboard is the same idea GOAT names in a session. Eyes up and slightly left. The pages stay dark until lock.

HRVG is a classroom and a guild. GOAT RV is a practice desk. If you already work HRVG, the app still does the same honest part: letter ID, record, lock, then look.

Controlled Remote Viewing (CRV)

CRV is the most widely taught staged method. Ingo Swann developed it at SRI with Harold Puthoff in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Early work was called Coordinate Remote Viewing because the handle was often a geographic coordinate. The handle later became an encrypted ID. The “controlled” in the later name is the paperwork: stages, breaks, and a fight with analytic overlay.

IRVA summarizes the six stages as major gestalt, sensory data, dimensional sketch, more complex perceptions, interrogation of the signal, then modeling. A declassified Fort Meade training text from February 1985 walks those stages on paper, including three-dimensional modeling in Stage VI.

CRV is done sitting up, lights on, pen moving. It is not trance. Swann treated it as a trainable perceptual drill. GOAT does not teach those six stages in the app. First contact is shorter. Full Session is longer. Both still lock before look.

Extended Remote Viewing (ERV)

ERV is the relaxed cousin. The viewer works nearer the hypnagogic edge, the line between waking and sleep. A DIA Sun Streak-era description, as later researchers quote it, treated deep relaxation and inward attention as the setup.

Army work in the late 1970s also contracted the Monroe Institute on altered-state training. Operational units used ERV and CRV, sometimes in the same building. Same job: describe a hidden target. Different body.

Associative Remote Viewing (ARV)

ARV is less a sitting posture than a way to ask a binary or listed question. Each possible outcome is paired with a different target still. The viewer describes a target. An analyst matches the session to one still. That match is read as the associated outcome.

The point of the pairing is practical. Numbers and named winners are hard to view cleanly. A waterfall versus a parking garage is easier to tell apart. Feedback still closes the loop. Without a sealed pairing and a later check, it is just a guess with extra steps.

Other names you will hear

Outbounder / beacon. A person goes to a randomly chosen site. The viewer describes that person’s surroundings. Early SRI work used this a lot.

Written remote viewing. A hybrid used by some operational viewers, closer to automatic writing than to CRV stages. It was not an SRI training product.

Those names matter for history. They are not buttons in GOAT RV.

Where GOAT sits

You get a letter ID for a sealed still. You record what arrives. You lock. Then you look. Establishing the Signal is ten first-contact sessions. Full Session is the longer protocol and a short guess before the still.

The app does not score you. It does not analyze the page with AI. The still is the feedback. If you want staged CRV training, that is a different classroom. This desk is for building a record you can actually read against a picture.
